Definition

A right-of-use (ROU) asset is the balance-sheet asset a lessee recognizes under IFRS 16 representing the right to use an underlying leased item. Operationally, ROU tracking fails when the leased physical asset and the accounting object diverge — different IDs, stale locations, or disposal that never reached finance.
