Definition
A Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) is the software layer that lets an asset platform talk to sensing and identification hardware — RFID, BLE, UWB, GPS, barcodes, and related IoT — without hard-wiring the product to one vendor’s stack. Vendor-agnostic HAL design keeps location and identity feeds interchangeable as sites evolve.
